Intensive Courses

Intensive Courses

Intensive courses are a popular way of learning to drive as you do all of your training in a short time and not over
many months.

The best way to take an intensive course is over 1 or 2 weeks finishing it off with the driving test.

However, to do that you need to have a driving test date arranged first so that we can book your course around

it, and we can't book a driving test date until you have passed your theory/hazard perception test.

So, firstly, have you passed your theory test? If not, are you studying for it yet?

If you have passed it, let us know and we can proceed with the intensive course as soon as we/you can fit one in.

If you haven't, while you are studying for it, you can take some driving lessons in the mean time to start you off,

which would mean you shouldn't need as many hours in the intensive course as you will already have done a few.

Then there's how many hours lessons would you need for your intensive course?

Have you driven already? If you have, we would ask that you take an assessment lesson with an instructor to

determine what level of driving you have reached already, so that we know where to pick up teaching from,

and can then recommend how many hours you should need for your intensive course.

If you haven’t driven already, as a guide only, to get pupils to test standard, you are looking at around 30

hours tuition, preferably with extra private practice. Some pupils will take longer while some will take less.

We cannot guarantee that any pupil will pass the test after an intensive course, it is purely down to how they

drive on the day.

Before embarking on an intensive driving course, you should consider the following:

On average, the pass rate for someone taking their driving test following lessons in the traditional sense

is 42% (DSA statistics), whereas for those taking intensive courses it drops to approximately 35%.

Therefore just over 1 in 3 people fail their driving test at the first attempt using this method.
